How to Pack Your Kitchen for a Move

Our full-service movers are committed to providing hassle-free relocation's to our customers, part of which is ensuring our clients have the knowledge they need to make moving simpler. If you’re planning a move, you’ll have to pack your kitchen and we’ve got tips to help make it easy!

Sort as You Pack

Make packing more efficient by weeding out unnecessary items as you’re boxing up the rest of your kitchen. Clearly label a box marked “donate” or “sell,” then place your unwanted items in the box as you come across them while packing.

Start with Non-Essentials

Avoid inconvenience by first packing things you don’t use frequently, like:

  • Stemware
  • Cookie Sheets and Cake Pans
  • Cookbooks
  • Specialty Utensils

Create an Essentials Box

Once you’ve boxed up all the non-essential belongings in your kitchen, it’s time to create your essentials box. Fill this box with things you know you will need for the last few days in your current home and the first few days in your new home.

Prepare Appliances

If you plan on taking your fridge, dishwasher, or oven with you, you need to make sure they’re properly prepared. Empty your fridge and freezer and unplug all appliances for at least 24 hours prior to moving day to avoid issues like broken parts and gas leaks.
